Guest lecture by Mr. Saurabh Gupta, an IMNU Alumni


Institute of Management, Nirma University hosted a Guest Lecture by Mr. Saurabh Gupta, an alumnus of IMNU and currently working as an Assistant Professor in MIS at University of Florida. He talked in depth about the importance of education system and its contribution to the development of a sound work force. He also compared the Indian education system with that of the US, saying “There are no regular management students in US at present”, emphasizing on the difference in the methodology and pedagogy followed. He suggested that the pedagogy in India should try and encourage the students to ask questions also stating that “(the) technology has to be weaved into the system to make it more effective”.

He also talked about the need of flexibility in the education system and how the quality of education in India is seriously affected by the lack of funding and the lack of diversity. He emphasized on the skills that an MBA students should possess, stating that “Management education is focussed on soft skills (in US)”. He also said that management education is about learning how to ask the right questions and how to deal with people. He also talked about the change in approach towards management education in India, which is governed by global cues.

This session was followed by an interactive session where various students asked Mr. Gupta varied questions pertaining to the current education scenario and trends in management education.
