Seminar on Industrial Motivational Campaign by Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises(MSME), Govt. of India



A team of representatives from MSME Development Institute, Ahmedabad presented a seminar on “Schemes offered by MSME for Entrepreneurs”. The team comprised of Mr. Arvind Patwari, Director MSME; Mr. Dinesh H. Amin, Joint Commissioner of Industries and GM District Industrial Centre; Mr. H.S. Vyas, Senior Faculty, Centre of Entrepreneurship Development and Mr. Ashok Thakkar, Senior Bank Manager, Bank of Maharashtra.
Mr. Patwari opened the session by introducing the mission of Ministry of MSME which is “to Create, Sustain and Nurse Entrepreneurs”. Its aim is to motivate students at college level by sowing the seeds of entrepreneurship early in their life and by enlightening them on various aspects that are necessary to be considered while setting up small scale industries and other service or business enterprises.

The second speaker Mr. Dinesh H. Amin explicated the schemes and incentives provided by Ministry of MSME for encouraging entrepreneurial ventures. He gave in depth information about the assistance offered in the form of Interest Subsidy, Venture Capital Fund, assistance for obtaining Quality Certification, assistance for skill enhancement, market development support, support for ancillary vendor development etc.

The next speaker, Mr. Vyas, built knowledge on selection of business support instruments, the problems they address, and how they are delivered. Mr. Ashok Thakkar gave insight on the role of banks in providing financial schemes to endeavoring entrepreneurs who dream of setting up an enterprise. He also threw light on the special offers to SME sector by Bank of Maharashtra in the form of Term Loan for acquisition of machinery and fixed assets without any security or collateral, working capital by way of funded Cash Credit limit, Non fund facilities in the form of Letters of Credit / Letters of Guarantee etc. All that is needed to avail these offers is an idea, a business plan and entrepreneurial zeal.

In the end the students clarified their queries through an Open house session.
